About Mandawa

Mandawa is a town in the Shekhawati region, known as one of the 'open-air art galleries' of Rajasthan because of its richly painted havelis. The town grew wealthy through 19th-century merchants (Marwaris) who commissioned mansions covered with frescoes depicting mythology, portraits and even motorcars. The Mandawa Castle haveli complex and numerous painted havelis line the town's lanes.
