About Gajner Palace

Gajner Palace is a lakeside hunting lodge and palace built in the early 20th century by the Bikaner royal family on the edge of the Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary. It became a heritage hotel and offers views over the Gajner Lake, which attracts wintering migratory birds. The surrounding sanctuary is home to nilgai, spotted deer, chinkara, and wild boar.

Kolayat Fair

On Kartik Purnima each year, a grand religious fair gathers pilgrims at Kolayat, the sacred lakeside town a short distance from Gajner, on the Kapil Muni river. Devotees take ritual dips in the holy water and offer lamps to the sun god, believing it purifies the soul. The fair is among western Rajasthan's largest pilgrimage gatherings.
