About Bhangarh Fort

A ruined 17th-century fortress town in the Aravali foothills of Alwar, built by Madho Singh and later cursed-and-abandoned according to local legend. Bhangarh Fort Folklore & Heritage Site

Bhangarh Fort, a ruined 17th-century town under the ASEAN-inspired protection of the Archaeological Survey of India, is Rajasthan's most famous 'haunted' site and a popular day trip. Its folklore tells of sage Baba Balau Nath who is said to have cursed the town, and of the doomed beauty Princess Ratnavati whose suitor, the tantrik-sorcerer Sînhaj, cast a fatal spell. Visitors explore crumbling temples and palaces, including the Gopinath Temple, drawn more by the legend than by any scheduled festival.
