Devi Kund Sagar, also known simply as Devi Kund, is a royal cremation ground (cenotaph complex) of the Bikaner royal family (Rathores). Located about 8 km east of Bikaner city, it is a site of historical, cultural, and architectural significance. The complex features chhatris (cenotaphs) built in memory of Bikaner’s rulers and royal family members.
Cenotaphs (Chhatris):
The complex contains marble and red sandstone chhatris, showcasing a blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture.
Intricate Carvings:
Some cenotaphs are elaborately carved with floral patterns, Rajputana motifs, and historical inscriptions.
Unique Cenotaph of Maharaja Anup Singh Ji:
One of the most remarkable chhatris is that of Maharaja Anup Singh Ji, built in white marble with beautiful Rajput-style frescoes inside.
Female Cenotaphs:
Special cenotaphs were also built for queens and royal women, maintaining traditional norms of the time.
