The Government Museum Baran is a cultural institution located in the Old Civil Lines area of Baran, Rajasthan. Inaugurated on August 20, 2020, the museum was established to preserve and showcase the rich heritage of the region. It houses a diverse collection of artifacts, including sculptures, paintings, weapons, and decorative arts, reflecting the historical and cultural evolution of Baran and its surroundings.

  • Sculptures: The museum features sculptures from various historical sites, notably the 10th-century Bhand Deva Temple, known for its Khajuraho-style architecture, and Bilasgarh, a city destroyed during Emperor Aurangzeb’s reign. 

  • Paintings and Decorative Arts: Visitors can explore paintings from the Jaipur School and Bundi art styles, along with decorative artifacts that offer insights into the region’s artistic traditions. 

  • Weapons and Dioramas: The museum displays an array of historical weapons and 27 dioramas that depict various aspects of local life and culture. 

  • Folk Art Gallery: A section dedicated to the Sahariya tribal community showcases their unique cultural expressions and traditional attire.
