The Chetak Tomb is a small yet emotionally significant memorial located in Haldi Ghati, Rajsamand district, Rajasthan. It is dedicated to Chetak, the legendary horse of Maharana Pratap, who played a crucial role in the historic Battle of Haldighati fought in 1576.
During the fierce battle between the Mughal army and Maharana Pratap, Chetak carried his wounded master to safety despite being badly injured himself.
After crossing a stream and ensuring the king’s safety, Chetak collapsed and died due to his injuries.
In honor of his loyalty, sacrifice, and courage, a tomb (samadhi) was built at the spot where he breathed his last.
The tomb is simple and made of white marble, nestled in the Aravalli hills near Rakt Talai, the main battlefield.
Surrounded by nature, the location reflects peace, respect, and remembrance.
