HALDI GHATI(THE YELLOW VALE)

Haldi Ghati is a narrow mountain pass in the Aravalli Hills of Rajsamand district, Rajasthan. It is historically significant as the site of the famous Battle of Haldighati, fought on 18th June 1576 between Maharana Pratap of Mewar and the Mughal forces led by Man Singh I of Amber, under Emperor Akbar.

Why It’s Called “Haldi Ghati” (The Yellow Vale):

The name “Haldi Ghati” translates to “Valley of Turmeric” due to the yellowish soil found in the area, which resembles the color of haldi (turmeric). This distinct natural hue gives the valley a unique appearance and a poetic name.

Historical Importance:

• The Battle of Haldighati is remembered as a symbol of Rajput valor and resistance against Mughal domination.

• Although technically inconclusive, it is considered a moral victory for Maharana Pratap, who managed to escape and continue his resistance.

• His loyal horse Chetak became legendary for saving Maharana Pratap’s life before collapsing due to injuries.
