ALBERT HALL MUSEUM (CENTRAL MUSEUM)—officially the Government Central Museum—is Rajasthan’s oldest and Jaipur’s premier cultural institution. Nestled in lush Ram Niwas Garden, just outside the old city walls, it’s a masterpiece of Indo‑Saracenic architecture, blending Mughal, Rajput, Islamic, and Gothic styles. Designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob (with Mir Tujumool Hoosein), its foundation stone was laid by Albert Edward (Prince of Wales) in 1876, and the museum opened in 1887.
Constructed between 1876–1887, originally intended as a town hall by Maharaja Ram Singh II, and redefined as a museum by Maharaja Madho Singh II.
