RAMGARH TIGER RESERVE declared the 4th tiger reserve of Rajasthan and the 52nd in India in May 2022
Serves as a crucial wildlife corridor between Ranthambore and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserves
Apart from tigers, the reserve is home to:
Indian wolf, leopard, striped hyena, sloth bear
Golden jackal, chinkara, nilgai, fox
Aquatic species, thanks to Chambal inclusion.
Historically a tiger habitat since becoming a sanctuary in 1982; tigers moved between Ranthambore and Ramgarh
Notably, tigress T-102 was translocated here in July 2022 to pair with T-115 and ease population pressure in Ranthambore
Conservation efforts include large core buffer, enclosures, and habitat improvements.
Strengthens genetic exchange and tiger corridor connectivity across reserves
Boosts eco‑tourism, generating research, local employment, and sustainable growth
Plans underway for:
Structured divisions and ranger ranges
Introduction of herbivores (e.g. cheetals) and possible tigress relocation post‑monsoon
Offers space for dispersal of tigers from crowded reserves.
Protects species diversity and improves aquatic ecosystems.
Enhances regional protection efforts and rural livelihoods through tourism.
